Model Driver Award
As part of KLF's safety promotion campaign, the Driver Safety Management Program was launched in January this year. One of the highlights is the half-yearly Model Driver Award.
The panel of judges comprised of managers from the Transport, 3PL, HR, Freight Agency and Corporate Services. All the drivers, including employees of KLF and its sub-contractors were involved. Key assessment criteria are
a) Safe Driving Habits ¨C driving skills, knowledge of road direction, knowledge of vehicle parts, simple trouble-shooting and daily upkeep of own vehicle;
b) General Safety Awareness ¨C while driving in port premises, while (un)loading of goods, while queuing at Pass office;
c) Qualitative and Quantitative aspects ¨C proactive-ness, courtesy, customer service, incident-free rate, disciplinary rate, cooperative-ness etc
Two drivers Mr Zhang Chao Ming and Mr Yuan Zhi Hong of KLF have won the ¡°Model Driver¡± awards in the competition after appraisal by KLF Safety Committee. These two ¡°Model Driver¡± joined KLF since its inception in 1995, and have not had any accidents in all these years. In addition, they are being commended for their enthusiasm in sharing their safe driving tips to fellow drivers, such as avoid tailgating, new hazard spots and unsafe road conditions, and major traffic diversion spots.
At the award ceremony, the two winners shared their safe driving experience with others, and stressed the need of caring for others' safety while driving as we are inter-dependent on each other for our safety. Mr Au Yong Kong Seng, GM of KLF said, ¡°The Model Driver Awards is intended to recognize those who exemplary drivers and serving as role models to others; so as to achieve continuous improvement in road safety. We will continue to fine tune the Driver Management Program so as to inculcate the safety awareness into each staff and to enhance the overall safety culture in the company.¡±
